Meet Janet: Aspiring Culinary Professional

Janet is a single mother of two children. In 2018, she lost her job and experienced homelessness for nearly six months as a result. Janet participated in several housing programs until she was accepted into Mather Singles Interim Housing.

At the Mather campus, Janet participated in classes such as life skills, financial literacy, and sobriety. She enjoyed volunteering in the community kitchen on-site, and with that experience she found her passion in cooking.

Janet has now graduated from the Mather Singles Interim Housing program to move to Texas with her partner. She is interested in pursuing culinary work and would someday like to start her own catering company.
